I can’t even begin to explain the peace and beauty we experience this weekend. The trip up to St. Paul didn’t start off well, I think I got the 24 hour stomach bug and was tapped out for an entire afternoon and night. The next morning it was like nothing every happened.
We explored family property, went frog hunting, lost the frogs, went moss picking at the farm, snuggled with Gramma and played at all hours of the day. The sun was shining for the most part, and when it did drizzle we curled up on the couch with snacks and our favourite shows.
Life is short, and this is something I tend to remind myself a lot! I love saying yes to almost anything the boys want to experience. Digging holes in their own garden, filling it with water and practically taking a mud bath, yes please. Run outside in the rain in your unders? Yes please. Catch bugs oh so gentle and giggle as they tickle your tiny hands. Yes please. This is childhood and these are the memories that are going flood their memories when they grow up. I want my boys to experience life and nature and really take in those moments we have with the people we love.
We had the privilege of saying good-bye to Uncle Mark as he moves to another province. So those memories of shopping in Giant Tiger for shoes and picking out, their now absolute favourite stuffed animal kittys, is a memory they will hold onto. Hanging out in his camper and following him around the property, taking a quad ride to the “pit”, family property with ponds and forests galore. Hearing the laughter that came out of this week was a treasure I won’t soon forget. The next time we head up to see Gramma, it will be a little quiter without Uncle Mark, but we have had such a time with such an amazing Uncle who really gets kids.
So here is to amazing family who love you unconditionally and the time spent together becomes a treasure greater than gold.
